Magnificent, unforgettable and fully supported canoe descent of the Ardeche Gorge.

Ardeche Adventures is a small company offering that personal touch to family adventure holidays.

We provide the perfect opportunity for you to share your adventures with like-minded families, and with a maximum of six families per week, the holidays always create great memories and lasting friendships.

Ages range from 6 year olds to Grandparents and we always attempt to match families into the weeks where we have similar aged children.

All of our activities are instructed and guided by our fully UK qualified Ardeche Adventures team. Each year we employ passionate and professional instructors, with the maturity and sense of fun to make your stay with us an amazing one.

No experience is necessary for any of our activities and safety is paramount for everything we do. It’s not about pushing you out of your comfort zones, but sharing the challenges of the activities as a family.

The main activity of the week is a canoe descent of the magnificent Ardeche River. We do this over three days with one night spent at the Biviouc site deep in the middle of the gorge.
Our river team will take care of you, guiding you through the rapids and keeping you entertained along the way.

No other company does it with quite the same attention to detail as we do! On Bivi we supply you with tents and hammocks and a fantastic barbeque even coffee and pancakes for breakfast!

As well as the magnificent canoe descent of the Ardeche Gorge we offer a day at an incredible high ropes course up in the pine forests of Villfort and another day climbing and abseiling in the limestone cliffs of the Chassezac gorge.

We are surrounded by beautiful and geographically mind blowing landscape, the 'Bois de Païolive', an astonishing primeval forest of white oaks and petrified rocks and is just 5 minute drive from the site. There are some excellent and well marked walks throughout this forest, 'The Labyrinth' in particular is a limestone maze, great fun for the whole family.

We do have a set itinerary for the week, but you are more than welcome to custom your holiday to your needs and choose from a variety of alternative activities that we can organize for you.

Our adventure holidays are offered as self-catered in chalet or tented accommodation. The site that we use is located in a beautiful spot in the Chassezac gorge and is 5 minutes walk from the river. As well as a bar and a pool on site there are a couple of great restaurants nearby also within walking distance.

There are several local markets nearby giving you plenty of opportunity’s to soak up the aromas and ambiance of this region. Fill your basket with fresh produce, cheeses, saussison and a perhaps a bottle or two of Ardeche wine!

All the local towns have supermarkets, so it's easy to stock up your tent or chalet with essential goodies.

We always photograph the week’s excitement and provide you all with of the images free of cost, so you get to treasure the memories forever.

Itinerary / Highlights

Saturday
When you arrive at Camping Les Tournayres, you will be greeted by us and guided you to your chalet or tent. We understand that traveling can be exhausting, so after a short introduction, you will have the day to relax and explore.
Sunday
We recommend you start the day by visiting our local morning market in Lablachere.
The rest is your day is free and we find most families just enjoy to relax and get into the holiday mode! For the super active, we are also more than happy to organize something for you.
Monday
Today you will be climbing and abseiling in the Chassezac Gorge amongst the magnificent limestone cliffs. It’s just a walk from the site and the abseil is a James Bond like drop into a cave!!
On Monday evenings we have a Paella beach party! Five minutes from the site there is an amazing spot where the river runs through a labyrinth of limestone producing the perfect swimming spot! Great chance for the kids to hang out and the parents relax and get to know everyone.
Tuesday
A day at the high ropes course in Villefort, this is a fantastic day of zip lines and high ropes challenges, see if you can get through all five courses and keep up with the kids!
Wednesday
This is the first day of canoeing and is designed to prepare you for the full descent. You will complete a mini descent of 7 km in which you'll learn basic river safety and boat control whilst taking many opportunities to swim and rock jump along the way. The first day takes you through some of the rivers most exhilarating rapids and to top it all off you'll be paddling through the simply spectacular Pont D'Arc itself.
Thursday
We return to the river to pick up from where we left off, now entering the gorge proper, fully equipped for the two-day descent. Its no turning back from here and once on our way you really begin to appreciate the Magnitude and beauty of the Ardeche gorge!
As well as negotiating the many rapids along the way we have time to swim and have lunch on the rivers edge. By late afternoon we arrive at the bivouac site, prepare our sleeping area and light the BBQ. The site is fully equipped with a shower block and toilets. We will provide tents and inflatable beds for anybody worried about an uncomfortable night! Pure luxury! Relax while we spoil you!
Friday
After sleeping out under the stars we rise to the smell of hot chocolate and pancakes lovingly prepared by us. Once we have loaded our dry sacks we set of for the final day of the descent ready to face more rapids and stunning scenery, oh, and nudists! (Thought it would be best to warn you!) We arrive, (exhausted), at the bottom of the gorge! From here we shuttle you back to your vehicles in an air-conditioned coach.

Accommodation Details

The accommodation most favored by our families is a chalet on a family run site pictures and details are available at www.lestournayres.ea26.com.
Staying at the site will give you the chance to share experiences and time with like-minded families and many friendships lasting have been made on our adventure weeks.
We are happy for you to arrange your own accommodation but are also willing to organize this with you at no extra cost.
We also have some gite options off site, details available on request.

Departure Dates, Options & Prices

The holiday price is £450 for adults and £350 for children with the 3rd child going free! This means that for a family of four (or five) a full week of activities will cost £1,600.
